The purpose of writing a travelogue is not merely to explore a land; it also entails documenting its political and social history alongside its geographical and historical significance. The tragedy of East Pakistan carries profound political, social, and historical implications. Just as these repercussions have influenced other genres of Urdu literature, they have also impacted the genre of the travelogue. To examine these effects, two travelogues have been selected for this study. The analysis aims to explore how the tragedy of the Fall of Dhaka stirred the sensibilities of writers with differing perspectives and to identify the points of divergence—political, social, and historical—regarding this event as reflected in the two chosen works.
